Occasionally, patients with PE have no symptoms, and the blood clot is identified when an imaging test is performed for another reason.
What are the symptoms of PE?
Shortness of breath
Chest pain (typically described as worse when taking a deep breath or with a cough)
Rapid heartbeat or palpitations and increased breathing rate
Fever (usually less than 102)
Blue lips or nail beds
Cough or coughing up blood
Lightheadedness, loss of consciousness and collapse (passing out)
