What are the symptoms of PE?

What are the symptoms of PE?

Shortness of breath

Chest pain (typically described as worse when taking a deep breath or with a cough)

Rapid heartbeat or palpitations and increased breathing rate

Fever (usually less than 102)

Blue lips or nail beds

Cough or coughing up blood

Lightheadedness, loss of consciousness and collapse (passing out)

Occasionally, patients with PE have no symptoms, and the blood clot is identified when an imaging test is performed for another reason.
